Something like a football game took place at the James Logan High School stadium Friday night as the Colts took on, or took out, the demoralized American High School Eagles by a score of 67 to 7.
The Colts kicked off to the Eagles to start the game. After numerous penalties on both teams, the Colts' Marquise Carpenter intercepted the ball from the Eagles.
Quarterback Jeffrey Prothro lead the Colts on a march down the field, combining great passes with the running of Miles Long, who scored the first of many touchdowns. A two-point conversion boosted the score to 8-0.
After getting the ball back, American's Eagles were unable to get a first down and no choice but to punt.
Under pressure during a passing play, Colt quarterback Jeffrey Prothro broke from the offensive side and ran 12 yards. Later in the quarter Prothro again 40 yards to give Colts another spectacular touchdown. The Colts extra point try failed, leavingthe score at 14-0
After getting the ball back, American was again forced to punt; the Colts returned the put to around the 50 yard line.
Miles Long continued to astound as he gained a couple of first downs and another a touchdown, breaking through the Logan and American lines in his inexorable rush to the end zone.
As the extra point try again failed, the score was 20-0.
Again unable to move the ball against the Colts, the Eagles again punted.
Prothro, under pressure from an Eagle rush, scampered for a first down but a holding call went against the Colts, nullifying the gain. Still, with the ball in Colt possession, Prothro passed to Miles Long, who's run after the catch moved the ball to within a yard of a touchdown. On the following play, Long took the ball in for a touchdown, making the score 26-0.
The Eagles finally stopped a Colt drive, forcing a punt, but the Eagles quickly fumbled the ball away. Colt Talat Aleem retrieved the ball and took it in for the touchdown. With a two-point conversion, the score balooned to 34-0.
Despite the lead, the Colts defense kept forcing the Eagles to punt the ball. Miles Long again was spectacular, running the ball almost 40 yards bringing the Colts again to the brink of the goal line. This time, Colt Victor Lopez caught a pass on the following play, grabbing another touchdown. With the extra point, the score was now 41-0.
With the Eagles unable to move the ball, they were again forced to punt. Ferdows Whahab of the Colts retrieved the ball and ran it right back to the Eagles goal line, with another touchdown soon following, upping the score to 48-0 after the extra point.
Another Marquise Carpenter interception lead to another Logan touchdown and extra point, raising the score to 55-0.
American kept making mistakes and fumbling. As they tried running the ball and pitching it back,, Khari Thomas of the Colts recovered the errant lateral. On the following play, Miles Long caught another pass from Prothro and scored another touchdown. With the extra-point kick being good, the score was now 62-0 in the third quarter.
As the fourth quarter began, with James Logan Colts had the ball on the their own 10 yard line. On a spectacular 90 yard run, Colt Damond Beasley ran the ball all the way to the other end for another touchdown for the Colts. With the extra point once again good, the Colts had a 69 points shut-out going.
With 7:02 left on the game clock, American refused to give up just yet and found a way to score a touchdown for themselves and avoid being blanked. Their extra point kick made the 69-7, which was the final score.
