MISCELLANEOUS
Congratulations to Sarvarinder Kaur, Ramanpreet Kaur, Amandeep Kaur, Sandeep Gill, Baljeet Kaur and Jagdeep Saini for winning scholarship of $1000 each, awarded by Fremont Gurdwara Sahib for overall excellence in academics, extra curricular activities, community service and determined nature to learn and desire to perform exceptionally well in the classroom.

A 4.0 GPA, determination to complete PhD in Aerospace Engineering in the U.S., and a student who spends his lunch breaks working in the cafeteria to support his family’s rent were some of the considerations in the award of these 20 scholarships of $1000 each.



Drop-In homework/tutoring in Room 77 daily before school 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Tuesday-Friday 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Need Drivers Education? Your place is the Adult School. Cost is $125. Two summer offerings, each Mon. – Wed., 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., June 21, 22, 23 or August 2, 3, 4. Applications are now available in your house office or see Mr. Caruso in Room 77 for both an application and details.

Dance 2010 – Friday, May 28th, 7:30 p.m., in the new Center for the Performing Arts! Tickets are available in the Dance Studio during 4th period lunch, or in the girls’ locker room, for $8, $10 or $12.

Class officer elections are going on right now. Vote on the internet at eduballot.votenet.com/JLHS. Results will be announced Friday at 3:25 p.m.

Help shape the future of Logan High School! In fall of 2011, a new “school-within-a-school” will open on the James Logan campus. Please join the design team at one of our Community Focus Groups. Our team would like to meet you and to hear your ideas on what you and your family would need from a small school at Logan. We will share our progress so far with you and take your feedback to heart as we continue to build our new school-within-a-school at Logan. The focus groups are scheduled for June 1 or June 2 (same discussion both nights), 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., in Room 404. Park in the lot on Meyers Drive, behind the Big Green, then follow the signs to Room 404.

Congratulations to our Special Olympic Team, U.C. Lightning. Jourdan Alberto, Don Frazier, Karl Dia, Sebastian Torres, Erica Lamm, Cesar Cunningham, Rahul Bandi, Wesley Hargrove, Michelle Lee, Lisa Blood, Tanisha Neal, Rayna Smith, Jonathan Nguyen. They were all medal winners!

ACTIVITIES

Senior Ball is this Saturday at the Hayes Mansion in San Jose. All attendees must bring their ticket and picture I.D. for entry. Tickets are still available at $100 per person; notice the price is staying the same! Last day to purchase a ticket is on Thursday. Don’t miss out.

CLUBS
Want to be a part of planning and putting on school-wide activities, improving our school for all students, and increasing school spirit? Join ASB Leadership. We’re looking for students who will reflect the diversity of our school and be a voice for their peers to be a part of next year’s Leadership class. Applications are now available in Room 67.

Sophomores and Juniors: Help our incoming Freshman Class ease into the high school experience at Logan. Become a Link Crew mentor. Applications are now available in Room 67.

The Gay-Straight Alliance meets on Friday in Room 52. We have a speaker about Gay prom.

Peace and Social Justice Club is holding a shoe drive for Haiti. Bring your old shoes that are still usable and drop them off in the Sole 4 Souls boxes. Locations will be announced later.

SENIORS
Enjoy a day with your friends at the Senior Picnic at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk on Tuesday, June 15. Reserve your spot by purchasing a ticket for $20. This includes charter bus transportation, lunch, and unlimited rides. It’s always a great time, so buy your ticket now in Room 67 during lunch.

The official Senior Shirt is now on sale. Sweatshirts are $27, t-shirts are $15, or buy BOTH at $35 – a $7 savings! If we run out of your size, the last day to pay and place your order is this Friday.

The Seoane-James Memorial Award is presented annually at graduation to the most outstanding male and female Senior Class member on the basis of his/her overall achievements during high school – academic, co-curricular and community service. This award honors two seniors from the first graduating class at Logan who tragically died in separate car accidents before graduation. If you would like to nominate yourself or a peer, please pick up a form from Ms. Whitaker’s desk at the Main Office. You may also receive a form from your teachers.
