The long waited film, Iron man 2, was released in theaters on May 7th. Being the second of a great film, it had a lot of expectations. For instance, the first Iron Man brought a sense of imaginable realism, meaning that all the new technology in the movie was within modern times reach. That aspect, made the film blow the human mind away.
In the second movie, a lot of things were questionable. The villain Whiplash’s ability to withstand a car collision was very unrealistic given that he had no armor. Normally, a crash like that would tear his abdomen in half. Also, the droid in the movie were very weak and fell apart to easily. It takes a dozen droid to target and hit Iron Man, yet it only takes him one hand blast to kill them all.
In addition to its realism, Iron Man 2’s plot deviated from the comics. For example, Whiplashes family was supposed to be killed by an Iron man imposter. The death of his family should have been the cause for his vendetta. Instead, the film claims that the Stark family stole his ideas and that credit for Iron man should be his. Another plot deviation though, is Tony Stark’s life threatening disease. The Marvel moviemakers allow him to suffer the deadly illness, but give Tony a solution, which causes him to live. In the comic books, Tony Stark dies. However, iron man does not die with him b because he creates a clone of himself who takes his place.
Despite the lack of realism and plot accuracy, the film was still good. It was action packed and contained lots of explosions. The equipment they used is cooler and creates a bigger bang. Plus, the introduction to the new War Machine character was extraordinary. He may not be as powerful as Iron Man but he has enough guns to take on a third world country.
The actors and actresses were well selected and made the movie not only an action movie, but also a funny movie. The changing of actors for War Machine did not affect the film so much as predicted. In fact, the screenwriters are able to address the change briefly and subtly. Overall, the movie lacked some parts but remained to be entertaining.
