Winter break is a vacation long awaited. However, many teenagers find themselves with a common problem - boredom. The first few days are filled with sleeping in and playing video games, but it gets old quickly. There are a variety of ways to stay entertained over break, and many students agree on one thing; hanging out with friends.
Whether it’s spending time at friend’s houses, the park, or the mall, it’s one surefire way to kill boredom. But there’s other winter time festivities to enjoy locally, one of them being Christmas in the Park, located in San Jose. It’s what is known as a long time tradition for many families. It offers many events, such as a tree lighting ceremony and a parade.
Another fun thing to do, is to go Christmas shopping in San Francisco’s grand mall, Westfield. With hundreds of stores to shop in, five floors, and a theater, it’s impossible to be bored here. Some stores are high end, but most aren’t, therefore people are almost guaranteed to find the perfect gift.
Also in San Francisco is an ice skating rink in Union Square. It’s best to go at night, as you not only get to enjoy ice skating, but you can see the lights and Christmas decorations all around you. It’s an $9 admission for about 90 minutes of skating, and if you don’t have your own skates, you can rent some for $4. It’s a pretty good deal for a nice holiday treat.
