Dec. 4 marked the release date of Armored, a crime thriller with a plot focused on a robbery executed by the only people who could be trusted.
The main character is an employee named Hackett (Columbus Short), who is struggling heavily in his finances, and is risking the possibility of losing custody of his younger brother. He works for an armored car company that is responsible for delivering large sums of money safely.
One day, he is approached a close friend, and co-worker, to take part in a robbery, that involves stealing the money that they are responsible for delivering. Although he is extremely reluctant to take part in the heist at first, he soon changes his mind after receiving news that his house might be foreclosed.
The only condition he had before agreeing to take part in the robbery was that absolutely no one would be hurt, which was quickly assured to him. Although the team had a perfect plan, promises, including the one involving everyone’s safety, were broken, causing Hackett to work against his teammates, in order to prevent them from successfully executing their robbery at the expense of other people’s lives.
Although Armored is a movie that contains a great plot, it is definitely not a movie that will be remembered within the next five years. There is never an actual moment in the movie that amazes the audience. The movie maintains a somewhat dull mood throughout its entirety. It is also highly unfortunate that the film fails to create any true suspense, despite having a plot that fills the viewers’ minds with questions.
Despite the film’s lack of ability to deliver suspense, Armored is still a great pastime movie. Its action scenes are all far above average and will definitely please any action movie fans. As long as this movie is not something that you set valuable time aside for, it will not be a disappointment; however, don’t expect to leave the theater with much to talk about.
