Hundreds of James Logan's veteran teachers, and several new ones hired this summer, returned to James Logan Monday to prepare for the return of students on Wednesday.
The returning teachers and new recruits started their day in the Pavilion at 8:30 a.m., where new Principal Judy Billingsley welcomed them back and introduced them to a largely new administrative team, which reviewed the policies and procedures guiding the opening of school.
One new feature of the school is the use of the Zangle school administration program. After the opening session with Billingsley and the other administrators, teachers headed off to either department meetings, such as with their Language Arts or Science colleagues, to plan for the coming year, or a training session in the use of the new program, which is intended to ease the taking of attendance and the assigning of grades, and provide students and parents online access to their grades and other information.
In the afternoon, teachers who had gone to Zangle training went to department meetings, and vice versa.
The afternoon ended with House meetings, in which teachers met with one of the four House principals to learn what they should do in their classrooms for the first few days.
