In every moment of conscious existence, we feel one way or another. When something positive happens, we tend to feel happy and when something negative happens we tend to feel upset. But in awareness, there is control. Within every event, there is a cause and effect that flow either in the direction we believe we need it to, or in a way that upsets us. So is it truly the instance that is at fault, or is it our own?

In every situation, there is something to gain, whether the outcome is the way you want it or not. For example, if a hard working student receives an F on a test, most likely they will be upset. If the student is conscious of the fact that there is a positive element in this upset, then there is growth. In receiving a failing grade on this test, the student can use the failure as motivation to study harder or to get help with the class. A student who is unconscious of this would instead become extremely upset with the grade and immediately begin to blame his or her own abilities or the teacher.

This outlook on life bridges all walks of life. The prospect is basically that with all “good” or “bad” things, there is something to learn. When this is understood, then what is any event but a new opportunity? It’s as the old saying says, but with a minor modification, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, if you so choose.”

So the next time you become upset over any level of conflict, think about what there is to learn and grow from. Open your mind to the opportunities ahead and find the value of all aspects of life.

Since you first talked to me about this I have thought about it a lot, and it really does make sense. Life isn't as bad as it first may seem if you look at the better sides of the situations and see, not what will drag you down, but what will help you become a stronger person.

And to relate this all back to Logan, Montoya might actually be on to something when he says, "Make it a great or not, the choice is yours!" It is true. :)

Interesting theory.
But do you apply it?

Of course I apply it.

That's why stupid people can't do anything to meThey can say "What is your name again? Is it asshole?" and spread rumors about me all they like; at the end of the day, in my eyes they just serve to be free entertainment. Morally retarded people can't **** me off; they only amuse me.
