Starbucks across the nation have decided to retrain their employees to perfect the frothy, creamy, flavorful drinks that Americans have grown addicted to. Local Union City shops embraced this new training. Carlos, a barista at the shop located on Decoto Road said, “Even the way we steam the milk is different. We take more time in creating the drinks and as a result the drinks are tastier.” Sara his co-worker said, “Working here you get used to the way each drink tastes. You know it better than anyone. The drinks were good to start with but now they are even better.”
Jennifer Smith, a veteran customer of Starbucks said, “ the flavors are much richer and the texture is smoother and more creamy. But I wish that they would improve at the starting point of their drinks, the ground coffee. The types are too limited and the quality is sometimes lacking. The new methods have improved on flavor but there is still some room to better the drinks to an even greater extent.”
The manager at the Starbucks off of Mission said, “This training was designed to help us find our roots again. We were distracted by our breakfast sandwiches and coffee cakes, so we wanted to make our coffee even better. Coffee is what this company was founded on. Starbucks is undergoing many changes.”
These other changes include the closing down of some franchises and the slowing of the company’s growth. Emily, an employee, said, “ Starbucks was growing too fast. America couldn’t keep up. Starbucks wanted to take things slower and focus on the quality of the product instead of the quantity of stores.’
With all of these changes, Starbucks is bound to only further cement itself in pop culture. David Gleeson said, “ I couldn’t imagine a morning without a vanilla late.” If the success of the training is any indication, such a morning will not occur anytime soon.
