The James Logan Colts' batters beat up on Antioch while Aaron Buenrostro blew them away in the first round of the NCS 3A Baseball playoffs Wednesday.

The Colts' scored 15 runs against the hapless Panthers, with three-run homers from Vince Mosely and Anthony Bona and sterling hitting from many others.

Meanwhile, right-handed ace Aaron Buenrostro strangled the Panther offense with precision, allowing no runs, striking out eight, giving up only two hits and walking no one.

But it was the offense that provided the action.

Antioch errors in the first inning cost them two runs, then, in the second, Mosely homered in Alex Murillo and Angel Perez. Two more runs in the third inning ran the score to 7-0. In the fourth, sophomore outfielder Bona's monumental blast over the left field fence, a ball which traveled perhaps 400 feet, punctuated the blow-out inning which ran the score to 14-0.

Deer Valley High of Antioch won their part of the playoff bracket against Liberty on Wednesday, 2-1 in eight innings. They'll meet the Colts at Deer Valley at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

It should prove more of a test for the Colts, as Deer Valley (18-7) is the third seed in the tournament, and Logan (21-5) is the sixth seed. Antioch was the 11th seed.
