Rock, who also directed and wrote the script with his frequent collaborator Louis C. K., employs voice-over narration, in the character of Richard, to help tell the story. Richard is the first to admit that his life is pretty good. He has a gorgeous wife named Brenda, played by Gina Torres, with whom he has two cute small children. They live together in a rich man's house in the suburbs, all of it financed by his upwardly mobile career at an established Manhattan financial company.
With a checklist this desirable one can suspect that life is great, perfect, no problems. Here's the rub: Richard is bored. His life consists of pleasant routines and small problems.
One of these frustrations is the sexual cooling of his marriage. It becomes the source of some potentially major trouble.
Trouble appears when one of Richard's friend's ex-girlfriends, who is smoking hot by the way, shows up unexpectedly at his office, ostensibly to obtain a reference letter from him.
In reality, she is trying to seduce Richard. The would-be homewrecker, Nikki Tru (Kerry Washington) insinuates herself into Richard's routines and flirts with him to break him, and have her way with him. Richard, throughout the movie, gets into various situations and has to make decisions concerning his life, and marriage.
Watch the movie to see if he made all the right descions, and if hes still with his wife!
