Last night, there was a lot of anticipation from both the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. The latter was hoping to win the game in order to win the Championship, whereas the former were depending on the game to continue the series.

On Thursday night, June 3rd, the NBA Finals kicked started the first game at the STAPLES Center. The Lakers came out with a vengeance to win Game 1.
At the start of the game, I knew it was going to be an intense game, with both teams alternating just leading by one point. Lakers knew what they had to do to crush the Celtics.

Magic failed to keep their hopes alive at Friday night’s game against the Boston Celtics. As a matter of fact, Game 6 was very important for the Magic to force a Game 7, and would be the first team in the NBA history to come back from a 0-3 deficit.
The Celtics finished off the Orlando Magic Friday, 96-84 to advance to the NBA Finals for the second time in three years.

Game Five of the Eastern Conference Finals was a remarkable night for the Orlando Magic. Orlando had its most complete offensive effort of the series, with 52.2 percent shooting from the field. Dwight Howard was terrific at both ends with 21 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks and two steals. Jameer Nelson had his second consecutive quality game with 24 points. Now add in 14 points apiece from J.J. Redick and Rashard Lewis, and that just made the Magic unstoppable.

On Tuesday, James Logan's Varsity Girls Softball team beat Washington 4-2 on the night the team honored its seniors.
The epic senior night consisted of energy, sweat, and most of all spirit. Team captain Jackie Campa claimed the night was “intense” and was “surprised at Washington’s competition.” However, despite the Huskies urge to win, Logan bounced on top with seven hits and four runs. One could say that the Colt’s home advantage boosted their will to win.

A long, ghastly nightmare. That's how we Bay Area devotees of the Raiders regard the 13 years our nomadic football team wasted away in Los Angeles.
Ah, but for hip-hop artist and filmmaker Ice Cube, those were the glory days — a period in which he not only formed a lasting bond with the Raiders, but also helped to make the silver and black culturally viable to a new generation and demographic.

Much to the dismay of the seniors, the junior powder puff team won the game on April 16th. But it wasn’t clear who the actual winner was right after the fourth quarter ended. That’s when the controversy started.
After the juniors scored their winning touchdown, two different calls were made by the referees. Coach George Zuber, who was on the senior side of the sideline, said that the touchdown didn’t count. Chelsea Salom had her flags pulled off by Leslie Espinoza. The other referee, who was standing on the opposite sideline, said that the ball had indeed crossed over into the end zone. There was so much commotion on the field at the time of the call that both the junior and senior teams were on the field celebrating. After deliberation between the two referees, Zuber changed his call.

On Friday night, the Juniors won a very close game on a controversial call on the last play of the game.
Near the end of the game, after the Juniors forced the Seniors to turn the ball over on downs, running back Chelsea Salom ran a reverse for 34 yards down to the Senior 3 yard line with 16 seconds left. On the following play, the Juniors fumbled the snap, but the referees stopped the clock, which Seniors contended should not have been done as a fumble is a running play and therefore the clock should continue to run.

Powder Puff practice for seniors started Monday at 4:30 P.M. for both cheerleaders and football players. Both practices for seniors go from 4:30 to 6:30 P.M. at the big green and the football field, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. There are no practices on Wednesdays because of track meets. Powder Puff practice for juniors is every weekday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
Many juniors and seniors did join the Powder Puff activities, however there are more than 100 girls who joined the senior football team and cuts will be made because there are only 99 jerseys available. Cuts will be determined by attendance, as 10 hours of practice is the minimum amount of hours to be on the team. They will also be decided on commitment and ability.

In their second match of the week, the Colt's Boy's Varsity Volleyball team played a tough match against the MSJ Warriors. It was evident before the match had begun that the guys were pumped for the match. But unfortunately the boys' lost the match 1-3 with the scores as following: 25-18, 21-25, 16-25, and 13-25.
The first game was the type of match you'd expect from two excellent teams in NCS. It was nearly the same during the second game and everyone knew that it could be anyone's match. But the final two games caused many to wonder if this was the same team that played excellent games in the first half. "[All the determination] from the beginning of the match just died out towards the end," said volleyball manager Allison Quiros.

The James Logan varsity baseball team continued their pre-season with a victory over visiting team Galena High School, winning with a score of 6-2. Galena came all the way from Nevada to play against three California teams. The Colts had a strong pitching effort by freshman Alex Martinez, who pitched 4 plus innings and only allowed two runs. He showed a lot of maturity by pitching out of a bases loaded jam with nobody out in the second inning. He got through the inning without allowing another run.
